This collaborative installation and performance endeavor with artist and musician JC Portuondo unfolds in two parts, drawing inspiration from the deep roots and diverse cultures of both creators. Portuondo hails from Key Biscayne, Miami, with Cuban heritage, while the project explores the fusion of their backgrounds. The first part, "Dusk to Dawn," takes its cues from the iconic Stiltsville houses in Miami, with a subtle infusion of Shintoism. In contrast, the second part, "Bloom" finds its essence in a Shinto Shrine adorned with the vibrant rhythms of Cuban music. In this unique partnership, each artist's distinct mode of emotional expression plays a pivotal role. Portuondo channels his emotions into the creation of music, while Saito finds her emotional release through the creation of art. The Installations and Performances serve as a tangible representation of the transformative moments when emotions are set free, and challenges are surmounted. The performance seamlessly weaves together various elements, including textiles, painting, music, and dance, to paint a vivid portrait of these emotionally charged and transformative moments.
