"Rise like a Phoenix from the Ashes" is an installation and a narrative that chronicles the transformation of a withering pine tree reborn into a radiant phoenix. This series conveys the profound essence of time-honored artistry through the intricate Andean Backstrap weaving techniques. My journey into the Andean Backstrap weaving began during my time at the Arquetopia International Artist Residency Program in Urubamba, Peru, in 2019, where I had the privilege of closely learning with a master weaver from Chinchero, Peru. This series was awarded a prize at The Nippon Club and Consulate General of Japan Art Exhibition FORWARD TOGETHER, held in New York, NY.
