This installation project features a collection of Furoshiki, a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth, each intricately dyed with onion skins. To craft these Furoshiki, I harnessed the ancient art of Itajime, a traditional Japanese pressure-resist dyeing technique. This method carefully secures the fabric between wooden pieces before dyeing, leaving a distinct undyed pattern in the compressed areas. The exhibition was held at Issue 00, New York, NY, and was generously funded by the National Onion Association with the support of New York Textile Month.
